Pointing Today
Towards Tomorrow

After twenty-four years in outside sales of everything from marine electronics and telephone systems to printed materials and advertising specialties, my body made it crystal clear the “I couldn’t stomach my job” anymore.  So, on a fabulous vacation to the Big Island of Hawaii in 1996, I discovered massage, shiatsu, reiki and reflexology.  My life was changed.

I returned home determined to study massage. In New Hampshire, I found a school that taught western massage, trigger point therapy, neuromuscular massage, reiki, reflexology and Japanese shiatsu.  I enrolled immediately and began the process of becoming a New Hampshire Licensed Massage Therapist.

In 1998, I received my diploma for Massage Therapy, and then passed the National Certification exam and the New Hampshire exam in 1999.  My first location was in a chiropractor’s office in Portsmouth, NH.  The chiropractic office experience honed my anatomy and physiology skills and gave me a valuable experience at pain management via therapeutic massage.

While attending massage school, I was fascinated by the Shiatsu.  Sadly, the school offered only a basic level.  At Boston Bodyworks School, Cambridge, MA, I found the education I sought. There I learned Five Element Shiatsu, Zen Shiatsu, and Qigong.  After graduating from Boston Bodyworks in 2004, I continued study in Chinese massage techniques at Charles River Institute, Cambridge, MA with Master Bill Helm, San Diego, CA and Jeff Cote, Director of Tui Na at Charles River Institute, in orthopedic and restorative Tui Na.

As a guest lecturer on Shiatsu and Tui Na at a local college, I have inspired students with a greater understanding Chinese massage techniques.  Shiatsu and Tui Na help the client’s body return to balance quicker and at a deeper level.  Chinese massage philosophy states disease comes from imbalance in the body’s energy lines.  Therefore, returning the body’s energy to balance as quickly as possible averts disease.

Helping people feel, move and think better is my passion.  I am lucky to be doing something I enjoy and to be keeping the standards of massage therapy high.
